Obama's claim that he was against the Iraq war from the beginning don't seem to jibe with the facts. According to VoteSmart.org, Obama has voted to fund the Iraq war every time funding has come before the Senate.
Obama voted against Democrat's attempts to end the war until he began his run for President. On June 22, 2006 he voted against the Troop Deployment Amendment. On March 27, 2007, he voted against the Iraq Withdrawal Amendment. After he began his run for President, his position changed and he did vote for the Iraq Troop Reduction on July 18, 2007 and the Iraq Troop Reduction Amendment on September 21, 2007.
