Obama Voted to Confirm Rice As Secretary of State

Obama voted to confirm Rice as Secretary of State on Janaury 26, 2005 despite her failures leading up to 9/11. Few will disagree that as Bush's National Security Advisor, Condi Rice was inept and incompetant. She ignored CIA briefings on the potential threat of a terrorist attack, leading up to 9/11. Why did Obama vote to confirm her?
